WI-FI Direct

Hi,

I am a begineer and have few questions to get a clear picture on the Wi-Fi implementation.
I need more inputs to understand the WI-FI Direct Mode and its support for the Kernel 2.6.34
Will the WI-FI Direct,Peer-Peer and Infrastructure implementation supported by Chips where al the functionality will be taken care or has it anything to do with the WI-FI Stack/Driver code implementation.If yes what extent of implementation details is needed
Any details on the above will be very helpful.
